Say hello to the new Thunderbird - beautifully and meaningfully redesigned by Minneapolis-based Native American designer, mentor and educator, Lucie Skjefte. As a citizen of the Red Lake Nation, her vibrant beading design for this shoe collection pays homage to her Anishinaabe heritage and her son, Animikii - whose name translates to "Thunderbird" in Ojibwemowin.
For every pair purchased, a product lifetime royalty will be paid directly to Lucie for her original design. In honor of this collection, Minnetonka is also donating to Mni Sota Fund an urban Native CDFI selected by Lucie that helps Native Americans in Minnesota get training and capital for home ownership and entrepreneurship.
